Welcome to iRead and our discussion of Dietrich Bonhoeffer's classic, The Cost of Discipleship. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Fairhaven Church's Common Ground. The new assignment is to read Matthew 5: 1-32 and then from the text, Chapters 8, 9 and 10 and then REread Chapter 1. We will also be open to discussing ideas/thoughts from Chapters 29 and 30 that we were not able to get to last time! Come with thoughts/questions to share and discuss!
There is a calendar change; Dec 5 will be the only meeting in December. I have cancelled Dec. 19 since it is too close to Christmas and an especially busy family time. The next meeting will be Wednesday, January 16, 2013.
As always, if you are new to Fairhaven and/or a current attender looking for a small community, we welcome you to try us out! There is no registration nor is attendance taken. We are here to walk alongside each other as we strive to stretch and grow by reading and discussing challenging Christian literature. The Cost of Discipleship is available for purchase at discount from Common Ground at Fairhaven.

Wednesday, Sept. 19
Welcome one and all to our book discussion group this fall! We are reading Dietrich Bonhoeffer's The Cost of Discipleship. The meeting will be at 7pm in Common Ground at Fairhaven Church. For this night's session, I have asked members to read Matthew 9:35-10:42 four times and also to read Chapters 1 and 21 of the book.
If you have not yet started the book, come anyway to listen and participate in the discussion! The book is available for purchase at Common Ground. This is not a lecture format, but rather, an opportunity for ladies to support each other as we read this challenging material together. You are encouraged to also bring your Bible.

BIG CHANGE COMING!!
Hi, Ladies...welcome to iRead...the Fairhaven Church Ladies' literature discussion group! If you are new...WELCOME!! We are glad to have you and learn from you...jump in... the water is fine:-) The iRead dates for this spring are March 7 & 21, April 11 & 25 and May 2 and 16. We meet in the coffee shop, Common Ground, at Fairhaven Church on Whipp Road in Centerville. There is no registration required. Just come and bring a friend!

If you are interested in getting a head start, this very interesting (yet rather stout) biography is available on Amazon for under $13 (Kindle version is $7.99). Otherwise it will probably be available at Common Ground sometime in March. The goal is to begin reading the biography in the Spring and then finish over the summer on our own.

Chapter 8 on February 8!
Hi, all! I look forward to getting together on February 8th to discuss Chapter 8 of The Pursuit of God by A. W. Tozer. If you are new to Fairhaven or if you have not yet joined our group, please come and try us out! We are excited to discuss our responses/thoughts together! We hope to see you there!
Incidentally, since we are in winter, there is always a chance of inclement weather. If weather is "iffy" on a Wednesday afternoon, it is unlikely that we will meet. I will send an email and post the cancellation on this blog if this happens.

Wed. Jan. 18th!
Welcome back from our long absence over the holidays! I hope you have had a wonderful time with family and friends over the past month:-)
Here we are in 2012...hard to believe! I look forward to seeing you this Wednesday at 7pm in
Common Ground to discuss Chapter 7, "The Gaze of the Soul" from A.W.Tozer's The Pursuit of God. What a great title for this chapter!
If you are new to Fairhaven or if you have never come to the book discussion group...we are waiting for you with OPEN ARMS!! We would LOVE to welcome you and get to know you. You can purchase the book in Common Ground if you do not have it already.
Our meetings are generally on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, but there is an adjustment for February. It's pretty funny that even though Feb is the shortest month, there happen to be 5 Wednesdays this year! We will meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays this Feb. I hope this does not mess up anyone's schedule.
